The VRF Installation & Start-up course is designed to provide HVAC installers and technicians a foundation and understanding of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) technology as it applies to the product line. This course teaches fundamental skills needed to install three phase heat recovery VRF systems and heat pump VRF systems. The attendee will gain knowledge on VRF function and control, installation, start up, and common troubleshooting solutions. The fully furnished training center will allow the attendee to practice and apply the lessons with on-site product practice and immediate instructor feedback and support. The field-proven procedures presented in conjunction with a complement of operating systems are an invaluable resource for both the entry-level and experienced installer.

Electrical Troubleshooting Skills

This course teaches the fundamental and advance skills of troubleshooting electrical system problems in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Technicians learn proven diagnostic techniques that they can apply immediately back on the job. Participants will gain both the skills and confidence to tackle any electrical system malfunction, with emphasis on a logical, systematic procedure for rapid discovery of failed component and root-cause determination. This class assumes a basic understanding of electrical theory and principles.

  • Distinguish various types and styles of wiring diagrams and their intended purpose

To effectively troubleshoot an air conditioning system, you not only have to understand refrigeration and electricity, but you’d better know what air is all about because a problem in this area can cause poor system performance and component failure.

Air measurement procedures, instruments and airflow calculations are used to measure airflow to solve airside problems. Includes practical discussions covering how improper airflow causes comfort system nightmares. Technicians will gain the skills necessary to successfully identify and solve air side system issues.

This service training program introduces the Inverter Driver VA9 Air Conditioners & VH8 Heat Pumps. The primary purpose of this training seminar is to familiarize you with this product, its components and its operation so that you can install and start-up a new unit, provide service and maintenance for this unit, and troubleshoot problems.

At the completion of the seminar the student will be able to:

  • Identify basic components of the *VA9 Air Conditioner and *VH8 Heat Pumps.

  • Describe the operation of the inverter drive compressor and state the precautions to observe when servicing the unit.

  • Identify the proper operating sequences for cooling and heat pump operation.

  • Use the Observer wall control to set up the unit and read error code history.

  • Describe proper service procedures for checking, charging and troubleshooting cooling and heat pump problems.

  • Describe proper service and troubleshooting procedures for heat pump EXV.

  • Explain the operation of the variable speed outdoor fan and how to troubleshoot it.

This service training program introduces Infinity/Evolution Variable Speed Air Conditioner & Heat Pump high efficiency outdoor units. These units feature variable speed compressors driven by a variable speed drive. They can use either the Infinity Touch/Evolution Connex communicating controls for full variable speed functionality, or standard 2-stage or single-stage thermostat for limited functionality. The primary purpose of this training seminar is to familiarize you with this product, its components and its operation so that you can install and start-up a new unit, provide service and maintenance for this unit, and troubleshoot problems.
